Community Service

“Since the Gospel message is one of peace, love, patience and respect for others…Today’s Catholic schools must respond to these challenges by developing in its students a commitment to community and to the social skills and virtues needed to achieve it.” (To Teach As Jesus Did, A Pastoral message on Catholic Education)

St. John Vianney School instills a commitment to community in its students, beginning in Transitional Kindergarten. Throughout the lower grades, students participate in community service through class and school-wide projects.

St. John Vianney School helps with the Cordova Community Food Locker, which serves the needy of the Parish and surrounding community. Students participate in Kids Can Food Drive and the Advent Christmas gift giving program. During Lent students support the Sacramento Life Center Baby Bottle Drive. St. John Vianney students are involved in raising funds for organizations such as Catholic Charities (Katrina Relief, and Haitian Relief) and Cancer Research, to name a few.
